PAID FAMILY LEAVE
One important policy step we can take to economically empower more women is to expand access to paid family and medical leave. Women’s Foundation believes women’s issues are both economic and family issues, and we must not be lulled into the false choice of having strong businesses or strong families.
To put this change into action, Women’s Foundation worked with the University of Missouri Institute of Public Policy to commission a research study on the status of Paid Family Leave in Missouri and across the country. Currently, we are working with policymakers on both sides of the aisle to put this research into action and support legislation that expands paid family and medical leave.

INITIAL FINDINGS ON PAID FAMILY LEAVE RESEARCH
In 2016 Women’s Foundation partnered with the University of Missouri Truman School Institute of Public Policy to research paid family leave and its impact on families in Missouri and the U.S.
Initial findings show that paid family leave has many benefits, but is not available to most working families. There are real opportunities to advance paid family leave policies in order to economically empower women and their families.
